Meet our Counsellor, Colleen Kelly:
Welcome, I am an enthusiastic and passionate College Counsellor, mother of two daughters and have a professional background as an Inclusive Education teacher. With a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling, I have more than 25 years of combined teaching and counselling expertise, bringing a unique blend of practical expertise, deep understanding, and compassion to my work allowing individuals to gain insights into their struggles and achieve self-understanding, emotional balance and well-being. I enjoy combining my passion for expressive therapies and counselling with my love of teaching
I use a holistic approach, helping each client to find new perspectives to explore and resolve their situation. My counselling style is in Sandtray and symbol work along with more conventional client centered talk therapy.
Previous experience includes several years as a Professional Development Facilitator for teachers across Australia. I facilitated interactive workshops for teachers and middle leadership to support students with learning difficulties and provided strategies and resources to support emotional and mental wellbeing. I also worked at a University in SE QLD in the Faculty of Education with students studying to be a teacher.
I provide individual and group supervision for School Counsellors, supervising professionals working with complex clients.
In my spare time, I enjoy travelling with my family and scuba diving. I also love playing music and am an active member as a trombonist in a brass band.
